The Ale Trail

Hop aboard the Ale Trail Craft Brewery Tour to visit some of Winnipeg’s most popular taprooms and brewpubs—and learn about its wild and crazy past along the way!

As part of this unique experience you will learn the art of professional beer tasting, take a behind-the-scenes brewery tour, enjoy three pints or tasting flights, and can purchase dinner or snacks at our last stop. En route between breweries, our trolley guide will also be sharing some of Winnipeg’s most intoxicating stories: Hear the scandal of our first chief of police—who spent as much time in court defending his own escapades as he did testifying against criminals—learn about the veterinarians who circumvented Prohibition laws by prescribing alcohol to their four-legged ‘patients’, find out which Winnipeg brewery created Budweiser’s most iconic marketing symbol, and much more. With great local food and drinks, trivia, and the liquor-laced history they never told you in school, this tour will help you discover Manitoba’s burgeoning craft beer scene in an entirely new way!

Tour includes:

  • Round-trip transportation and guided narration onboard the trolley;
  • Stops at three breweries;
  • A guided brewery tour;
  • A crash course in expert beer evaluation; and
  • One pint or tasting flight at each taproom, with food available for purchase at our last stop.

Each tour visits three breweries and runs approximately three hours and forty-five minutes.
Tours depart from in front of The Forks Market (1 Forks Market Road) at The Forks.
